Bertin Gakombe Kalinda
District Health Advisor – Bugesera District
Bertin joined the Access Project in the position of District Health Advisor (DHA) for Musanze and Nyabihu Districts in February 2007. As of May 2011, Bertin will be working as a DHA in the Bugesera District. Among Bertin’s many responsibilities as the DHA for Bugesera are conducting health center management assessments, reporting on the status and progress of Access Project interventions, providing hands-on managerial and technical support to all health centers in the districts, and working to coordinate the efforts of the Access Project and its local partners.
Prior to joining the Access team, Bertin was the director of health in the Karongi district. He has also worked as a tutorial assistant at the Kigali Health Institute, an assistant for the Family Health International program in Kigali, and the supervisor of a health center in Kibuye. Bertin received his bachelor’s degree in Public Health from the National University of Rwanda.
