Eugène Ruberanziza
Research and Treatment Coordinator, Neglected Tropical Disease Control Program
Eugène joined the NTD team in May 2007 as the research and treatment coordinator. Eugène is primarily responsible for the NTD epidemiological surveys, the development of protocols and plans and the training of health care workers in the diagnosis and treatment of NTDs.
Prior to joining the Access Project, Eugène conducted research on schistosomiasis around Lake Ruhondo. The publication of this research greatly raised awareness of the disease among Rwandan health professionals and earned him the prestigious Best Young Biomedical Researcher Award of the Year 2008. Eugène has been on staff at Byumba District Hospital in Rwanda since May 2005. Eugène served as a health worker in Rwanda solidarity camps in 1997 and as a youth health trainer at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture from 1998 to 2000. He holds a bachelor’s degree in General Medicine from the National University of Rwanda.
