Dr. Felix Kayigamba

Access Project Country Director

Felix Kayigamba became the country director of the Access Project in January 2011. He provides operational leadership in the daily coordination of activities to allow proper implementation of the project’s objectives. He also heads the Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Control program that aims to research and fight five NTDs in Rwanda. Felix works with health officials to ensure that key health systems function effectively and that the people of Rwanda receive quality health care as a result.

Before joining the Access Project team, Felix was a public health specialist for adult HIV care and opportunistic infections with the Rwanda office of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In this capacity he served as a technical advisor to the CDC’s adult HIV care and treatment team leader. Prior to his work with the CDC, Felix was the medical director of Ruhengeri District Hospital and of the district health management team.

Felix has experience with planning, implementation and funds management activities. He possesses a keen interest in operational research and has presented and participated in several international conferences in Africa, North America and Europe. Felix holds an MPH from the National University of Rwanda and has Bachelor’s Degrees in Medicine and Surgery (MBCHB) from the National University of Rwanda.
