District Health Advisor – Bugesera District

As the DHA for Bugesera District, Jean Marie is responsible for conducting health center management assessments, reporting on the status and progress of Access Project interventions, providing hands-on managerial and technical support to all health centers in the district, and working to coordinate the efforts of the Access Project and its local partners.

Prior to joining the Access Project, Jean Marie worked as a general practitioner in charge of ARV treatment therapy at Ruhengeri Hospital. In August 2006, Jean Marie participated in the committee of the International Symposium on the Assumption of Responsibility for Infectious Diseases. Jean Marie also took part in an investigation into child labor organized by World Vision in conjunction with project KURET (Kenya-Uganda-Rwanda-Ethiopia Together). After finishing a degree in General Medicine, Jean Marie published research on the nutritional rehabilitation of marasmus children and the mixed forms of malnutrition at the hospital in Butare.
